Blue & Red Phototherapy

Blue & Red Phototherapy

The history of light therapy dates back more than 3000 years in India, where sunlight was used for therapeutic purposes and recorded in the sacred Hindu texts. However, the sunlight that reaches us is made up of two types of harmful rays: long wave ultraviolet A (UVA) and short wave ultraviolet B (UVB). Basically, UVA rays can age us and UVB rays can burn us. Overexposure to either can damage the skin.

On the other end of the spectrum, phototherapy treatment uses a special machine to emit UVB light at 311-312 nm, which is the beneficial portion of natural sunlight for skin diseases. Ardmore’s Phototherapy, using medical grade LED red or blue light, is a non-invasive treatment to address skin issues such as acne, dull or aging skin.

Experience & *Results

The LED Blue phototherapy is usually known for its antibacterial effects. It has a unique 415nm wavelength that creates a toxic environment for the P acne bacteria to help reduce blemishes. LED Blue phototherapy may also shrink sebaceous glands.

On the other hand, the LED Red phototherapy helps increase collagen production while decreasing the rate of breakdown of existing collagen.

*Do note that individual results may vary.
